pythagorean theorm is a^2 + b^2 = c^2

side lengths 8 and 17

8 is a base and 17 is the hypotenuse, the other side is 15

8 15 17 is one of the first 10 Pythagorean triples

8^2 + 15^2 = 17^2

64 + 225 = 289

289 = 289
